CAC in Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center

Updated: Feb 26, 2018

The Center for Advanced Care opened in April 2015 is located at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. It offers outpatient surgery, digestive health, and cancer care services. It has 3 stories of outpatient care space, and on top of that is for future patient room expansion.

The first impression of the Center for Advanced Care (CAC) was the grand curved curtain wall. The architect who was a member of the design team said that the curve was not just a random shape out of aesthetic need, the curve was based on sun angles to obtain optimal daylight and shading.

The wall with a contrast between stone and neon color artworks is another interesting design. Those art pieces designed by Walead Beshty are a combination of 100 prescriptions color. It is a creative way to hide the shaft of future elevators.

Every detail in CAC is meant for patient-centered care. Such as private rooms for registration in case of sensitive information of patients. Big meeting rooms for family members to discuss with the clinician. Rounded skirting for easier cleaning. And you can see bells in the CAC everywhere that patients can ring whenever they feel better about their treatment, that is an excellent and positive way to cheer patients up!
